Friday Favourites

Happy Friday, everyone! And a very happy long-weekend to my fellow Canadians out there; hope your Thanksgiving weekend is a great one!

Sorry about being absent for a couple of days; I was swamped with school work & assignments. Of course, I snuck in some holiday card sketching and browsed some of the Nanowrimo forums.

This friday, I'm here to share some of my current favourite things! These are some parts of my world that are making me smiley right now:

David's Tea & their Pumpkin Chai blend. Om nom nom! This is quickly becoming my new favourite autumn drink, even trumping the Pumpkin Spice Latte. It's amazing as a tea-latte, but I usually just like drinking it with a drop or two of milk.

This album has been on repeat in my iTunes since it came out. The Killers are my ultimate favourite band; I can listen to every album all the way through without stopping/skipping, and I have some fabulous memories associated with certain songs. Plus, the concert I attended in 2009 just sealed their deal of awesomeness. Take a listen to their new album, Battle Born. Some of my favourite songs are:
Flesh and Bone; Be Still; Miss Atomic Bomb; and Battle Born.
This Merona cape, from Target (in Cable Cope orange). I seriously want this cape so very much & think it would be absolutely darling paired with some skinny jeans + boots.

My favourite mug, which speaks the truth! :)

What are some of your favourite things?

Hope you are all having a great day & I'll catch ya' around later!

Cheers,

Elle

Looking forward to Autumn

Hello, everyone! : )

Hope you're all having a great day so far. I've spent my day doing my usual school work and am now browsing the Nanowrimo forums (which reset last night). Nanowrimo is always a part of autumn that I look forward to! As crazy as it is, I am also hoping to start sketching out holiday cards this evening (yes, I am that person who buys Christmas stuff at Michaels in October).

Here are some other things about autumn I look forward to/adore:

A new autumn tradition for me has been making a 'fall colour palette' to base my wardrobe/crafty things on. This autumn, I'm focusing on more of a muted palette:

What are some of your favourite things about autumn? Do you have favourite autumn colours?

Cheers,

Elle!

This I Wore Tuesday (on a Monday)

Good evening!

Today’s my first ever outfit post! Normally, these posts will be on Tuesday but I didn’t want to take any more days off from blogging.

Disclaimer: some outfit posts will be self-shot (lame) some days, as I won't always have help to take the photos all of the time.

This is probably my new favourite, go-to outfit for fall. I’m definitely a t-shirt + jeans kind of woman, but here is an outfit that is slowwwllly going away from my normal (read: everything was grey/black/neutral/no pops of colour). This ochre/mustard yellow is one of my favourite shades for autumn.

[Outfit details: top – Forever 21; cardigan + belt – Forever 21;  jeans – American Eagle Outfitters, shoes - Walmart, earrings – vintage, necklace – boutique at Matticks Farm, Victoria BC.]

I spent my morning working on school (cataloguing assignments) and taking class notes. This evening I’m hoping to write out my holiday craft prep list! I spent yesterday making holiday gift tag packages and hopefully I’ll sketch out some new card designs today. I’m also on the hunt for a warm mug of cider...

How’d everyone spend this first day of October? Crazy how we’re already into the second month of autumn...

Hope you all have a fantastic evening! : )

Cheers,

Elle

Hello, My Name is: Elle

Good day! I am never really good at these ‘introduction’ type posts, so I figure I’ll just introduce myself in drabbles:

- My name’s Laura, but I typically go by Elle Zee online. It’s a nickname that stems from a crazy too-much-sugar fueled graduation night water bottle. Yes, a water bottle.

- On occasion, I may blog too many posts on the following subjects (of which I love dearly): The Killers, healthy eating, and The Vancouver Canucks. Of course, I will blog about more than these things.

- Sometimes people don’t understand why I yell at a television screen when hockey is on. I’m sorry I’m not sorry.

- I am currently in school to become a librarian. The library is my second home, my second nature. I am that person who is way too excited about cataloguing. However, I do not know everything about every book ever.

- Recently (within the last year) I have lost a total of 67 pounds. Yay! It’s been a long and tough journey, one that I’ll be on for the rest of my life. I think realizing that I have my whole life to live is what got me focused: eat healthy, exercise when I can, watch what I eat but don’t restrict myself so much.

- Jogging has become the essential start to my day and I love exercising for a bit in the evening to de-stress.

- I am very close to opening my very first Etsy! I will be selling illustrated greeting cards, and then maybe prints later on. Art has always been a passion of mine, and I am excited to share it with the world. I hope that my art can brighten a room, a day, or even a moment.

- Sometimes I start too many projects at once.

- Growing up, my dad always took me hiking or fishing and I have held a love for nature throughout my life. I will always prefer to be outside than inside and whenever I have a creative lull I will go on outside for an adventure; this always helps and I come back full of ideas/doodles.

- Last, but not least: Welcome! I’ll be back on Monday with an outfit post. Currently, my style is slowly evolving (thanks to the weight loss, dressing up is a bit more fun). However, I still am pretty stubborn style-wise and will typically just throw on jeans + t-shirt + cardigan. Hopefully I’ll add more pieces to my wardrobe as the months go on.

Have a most fabulous day! : )
